The ER Nurses Organizations
In case of emergencies, nursing cares are available round the clock for every one who needs medical attention. Emergency nurses take care of all patients whether they are in life threatening situations or simple injuries that have not gone initial diagnoses. Emergency nurses are putting to use their knowledge in injury prevention and preventative care education. In the year 2000, over 95,000 registered nurses where employed in the United States, and millions all over the world. The first organization for emergency nurses in the United States is the Emergency Nurses Organization (ENA). In the year 1970, the Trauma Room Nurses Organization was launched by Anita Door in Buffalo, New York. Judith Kelleher also formed the Emergency Department Nurses Association in California. In December 1, 1970, these two groups combined and became the Emergency Department Nurses Organization. The Royal School of Nursing in Britain also formed an accident and emergency nursing group, which later became the Accident and Emergency Nursing Organization.
When different nursing organizations were established, there have been numerous associations who organized and employed emergency nurses. When observing an emergency room, these nursing organizations are actually important in advancing the rights of all emergency health workers.
ENA has surely brought a lot of benefit to the nurses in US. The ENA has continuously taught and campaigned to the general public about the violent encounters that the health workers are experiencing on duties. ENA has also has also stated their concerns on family violence which are most of the cases handled on emergency rooms. ENA will surely give an advantage and benefit to all nurses joining this association. The ENA and other nurse’s organizations would clearly provide publications to give updates about medical technologies, procedures, and other medical issues that will surely educate all the nurses. Additional services offered by these nursing organizations are coaching and teaching schemes, providing medical courses, and authorization programs for the improvement of all its members. Nurses can also learn from actual coaches, peers and leaders and broaden their knowledge on what they have learned and can later apply this on their actual jobs.
For most of these associations, they were formed to guard and protect the advocacy of the organization. They are there to protect and serve the people for better welfare. Like these organizations, emergency nurses are there not only to help the people from their illnesses but also to protect their community form medical problems.
